Double NACK for XFP
07-01-04 19:04

I am using Tracii board as a master to a device in slave mode.

According to the I2C specifications, at the end of a simple read operation,

the master sends a NACK, followed by a STOP condition.

However, the device we are developing follows a special specification

known as XFP (10 Gigabit Small Form Factor Pluggable Module),

revision 3.1.

This specification has a packet error checking feature, where

upon receiving the NACK during the read operation, it would send

out another byte as the CRC value. According to the XFP specification,

the master (Tracii) would then send another NACK, and then send STOP.

I would like to know if it is possible for Tracii to do that,

while being able to retrieve the extra byte (the CRC byte).

I checked the soft help, but did not find the command to do this.

If a command to do this already exists in Tracii Talk, that would be great.

thanks

We cannot support this function, because Tracii 400 is designed according the I2C-bus specification. This behaviour differs from this spec. Thus the hardware does not support this function.
